Professional Web Designers

Professional Web Designers

So yes, you know a guy who knows Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, and very basic html and css. But does that instantly qualify him as a professional web designer?

A professional is someone engaged in that particular field as a means of livelihood. Which means they get paid to do something, and that's how they earn their living. Professional Web Designers create and develop websites for their patrons. They make the design and layouts of the websites, they create the content, and make the other necessary adjustments before releasing the site live. Professional web designers understand that web design is their most basic tool. Along with html, css, understanding web graphics, layouting, and at times even marketing your website for internet consumption.

Moving from being a freelance web designer to being a professional web designer can be tricky. As that there are too much to think about. But before venturing to being a professional web designer, here are a few reminders:

  • Be honest with your clients. Tell them your limitations, what you can and can not do. Tell them whether you can finish the project or not. This establishes good client relationships. And the client may even recommend you in the future.
  • Make your contract as clear as possible. As unclear contracts provide a room for exploitation on both sides. This may also prevent some unwarranted misunderstandings in the future.
